Naturally wild – barrel aged beers

About Us

Established in 2020, Arbànt is a beer project located in Bellinzona, Southern Switzerland. In a market standardized by big industry, we feel the need to offer beers that are respectful of nature and authentic expressions of our terroir. By applying historical brewing techniques, we focus on natural beers brewed with organic and preferably local sourced ingredients. We also love wild, spontaneously fermented and mixed fermentation beers.
The nature and millennia-long history of beer are our sources of inspiration.
Our wild ales are slowly fermented and matured in barriques (that previously held Merlot wine from local wineries) in the 1878 historic cellars of the Antica Birreria of Bellinzona.

Arbànt is a recognised Slow Food producer and also is the first brewery in Ticino to be certified organic & regio garantie on selected beers.

TEAM

Fabio earned his brewing diploma from the University of California San Diego, where he also gained his first professional experiences at breweries such as Stone Brewing, Saint Archer Brewing, and O’Sullivan Brewing. He later returned to Switzerland, co-founded Broken City Brewing, and since 2020 he has focused on barrel-aged fermentations with Arbànt.

Nicolas comes from the world of paragliding (which led him to travel extensively across the Americas and Europe as an tour guide), as well as from the world of wine. In addition to Arbànt, he is a winemaker and produces Todero, a classic Ticino Merlot. He also worked for five years with Dieter Meier, both in Zurich and at the Ojo de Agua winery in Mendoza, Argentina.

Together, we bring brewing and winemaking expertise, which is reflected in our barrel-aged beers. In a market standardized by large industries, we feel the need to create craft beers that are unique and authentic expressions of our territory.
